The TextBack text messaging program

TextBack is a missed-call text-back service for local businesses — plumbers, HVAC and electrical contractors, roofers, and other home-service companies. This page describes the text messaging program in full: who texts you, why, how consent works, and how to stop the texts at any time. It is the public description of the same program set out in Section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

How the program works

• You call a local business that uses TextBack.
• If your call is not answered, the business may send you one text message to continue the conversation you started.
• You can reply to that text and chat with the business, like a normal text conversation.

The texts are sent from TextBack's sending number, +15407013536, and every first text identifies the business you called by name.

An example first text: "Hi, this is Valley Plumbing — sorry we missed your call! What can we help you with? Reply STOP to end, HELP for help. — via TextBack" (Valley Plumbing is an example business name; your text names the business you actually called.)

How consent works

By calling the business, you consent to receive that reply text and related follow-up messages about your inquiry. There is no sign-up form, keyword, or purchase involved. TextBack does not sell, rent, or buy telephone number lists, and a business using TextBack may text only people who have called or otherwise contacted that business.

If you are in Washington state, follow-up texts about your job and a review link are sent only after you reply YES to a short permission text asking whether we may send them.

Follow-up messages you might receive

All follow-ups are about your own inquiry or job — never advertising:

• One follow-up text if you don't reply to the first text.
• A few quote follow-ups, spaced days apart, if you asked the business for a quote. They stop the moment you reply.
• A booking confirmation and one reminder if you book an appointment.
• One request for a review after a completed job, where the business asks for reviews.

Frequency, cost, and stopping the texts

Message frequency varies — it follows your conversation with the business. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to stop texts from that business (in Spanish conversations, reply ALTO). Any wording that asks not to be texted is honoured, and you can also opt out by telling the business in person, by phone, or by email — the business records it and the texts stop the same way. Reply HELP for help.
