For HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing & other phone-driven local businesses
Your phone rang.
Nobody answered.
That customer just called your competitor.
TextBack fixes that in seconds: when you miss a call — on a job, with a customer, after hours — the caller instantly gets a friendly text from your business, and the conversation lands in a simple inbox on your phone. They can reply, book, get a quote, or ask for a callback — before they dial the next name on Google.

See it catch a call
Don't take our word for it — play a missed call, right here. You're the caller first: ring a demo business, don't answer, and watch the text land. Then flip to the owner's side and see the conversation arrive, with the reply drafted and waiting for a human to approve it.
Interactive demo — a simulation. No real text is sent, no phone number is asked for, and nothing you tap here leaves this page.
1 · Choose your trade — currently: HVAC — no heat
Sarah's furnace quits on a cold evening. She calls Mike's Heating & Air — the crew is out on another job and nobody answers. Mike's Heating & Air is a demo business — any resemblance is the point: picture your own name in its place.
Ready when you are
You're Sarah. Call the business — and don't answer, because nobody there can.
2 · Call and don't answer
Mike's Heating & Air — inbox (demo view of the owner's app)
No conversations yet. When the call is missed, the conversation appears here the moment the text-back lands — watch the caller's phone.
What are missed calls costing you?
Five numbers of yours — calls a week, how many go unanswered, how many of those are real job requests, how often you close work like that, and your average job value, prefilled from research for your trade where we have it — and the calculator shows the jobs and dollars that could be walking away each year, plus how the answer moves if your close rate runs a little lower or higher. The formula is published on the page, the research behind the starting points is named beside each one, and it's labelled an estimate, not a promise.

How it works — set up in minutes
- Keep your number — nothing to port
Conditional forwarding sends only missed, busy, and after-hours calls to your text-back number. Answered calls are untouched, and the setup checklist walks through your exact carrier's steps.
- Every missed caller gets a text in seconds
Your words, your business name: a friendly text that opens a two-way conversation. And if they never reply, one gentle follow-up text goes out a few hours later — never more than one, it waits out quiet hours, and any reply or STOP cancels it. Texts only ever go to people who just called you.
- They book, ask for a quote, or request a callback
Reply 1, 2, or 3 — or tap a personal link to a page that already knows their name and number. Requests arrive structured, and you confirm with one tap. A booking is a request until you confirm it, so nothing is ever promised behind your back.
- You see what it recovered, every week
A plain-English weekly report: calls caught, conversations started, booking and quote requests, and the jobs you tagged as booked. That's the number that decides whether it earns its keep.
Everything you get — not just a text-back
Plenty of services will sell you the text-back alone: one automatic text, and the rest is on you. TextBack is the whole stack in one $49/month price — the text-back, the conversation that follows it, and the web presence most shops are missing. Here is all of it, up front, before you sign up — not after.
A website for your business — included free
A real website for your shop, designed in your colors with your photos and video — not a bare-bones placeholder page. You get a full editor to change anything, and its inquiry form lands in the same inbox as your texts, with AI-drafted replies waiting for your approval.
Built to be found — SEO included: your trade and your town in the page titles, a proper description on every page, and your business details marked up in the structured format search engines read. That unglamorous work is what decides whether your shop shows up when someone nearby searches for what you do — here it's done for you, in the price.
Your spot in the national directory — included free
Your business listed in the national TextBack directory: your name, trade, city, and phone number, a description in your own words, and a link back to your website. That's one more place a customer can find you — pointing straight at your site.
Listing is your choice: you opt in when you're ready, and you can turn it off at any time — turning it off removes your listing.
The full list — all in the one price
- Missed-call text-back, 24/7 — every missed, busy, or after-hours call answered by text automatically
- Bilingual conversations in English and Spanish — Spanish is detected and answered in Spanish, and ALTO is honoured like STOP
- Two-way inbox with AI draft replies — drafts only; you approve or edit every reply before it sends
- Second-chance follow-up texts to callers who never replied — one gentle follow-up, never a barrage
- Booking calendar — real open slots your callers can book themselves, with confirmations and reminders
- Quote requests with photos, plus automatic quote follow-ups
- Automatic review requests after completed jobs — requests are sent for you; we never claim reviews you received
- A quality website for your business, included — designed with AI in one click, in your colors, with your photos and video, built to be found, with a full editor and an inquiry form that lands in the same inbox with AI-drafted replies
- Listing in the national TextBack directory (opt-in)
- Yours to keep — full export of your site, content, and original files, with a 60-day grace period if you ever leave
- Weekly summary and shareable win card — hard counts from your own business's records
- The TextBack Customers private community — support, networking, and referrals
- AI-assisted setup — your account is pre-completed from your signup details, with drafts ready for your approval
- Emergency calls jump the queue — wording like “no heat” or “burst pipe” flags the conversation, pins it to the top of your inbox, and alerts you at once
- Callers can leave a voice message from their request page instead of typing — it lands in the same conversation, playable in your inbox
- You keep your number, your carrier, and your phones — nothing to port, no new hardware, and leaving is just turning the forwarding off
That's the difference: a competitor sells the text-back alone; this is the text-back plus the website and the directory listing they're missing — for one flat founding price, with a free trial that doesn't start until we catch your first missed call.

One recovered job usually pays for months of this
When the crew is under a house or the chair is full, the phone is the first thing that slips — and a caller who reaches voicemail rarely leaves one. They just call the next business. TextBack makes sure the conversation starts anyway, and makes it effortless for that caller to take the next step while they still need the work done.
The maths behind that heading: SearchLight's published research (Feb 2026) puts the average job at about $1,714 for plumbing and about $2,110 for HVAC — against $49/month, one recovered job like that covers many months of the service. Your own average is the number that matters, and the weekly report counts the jobs you actually tag as booked.
- No new phones, apps, or hardware
- Works with your existing number and carrier
- Book / quote / callback built into every text
- You approve every reply — nothing sends itself
- STOP honoured instantly, quiet hours respected
- Weekly report with hard request counts, not hype

Straight answers
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your number, your carrier, and your phones. Missed, busy, and after-hours calls are forwarded — only when nobody answers — to your text-back number. Answered calls ring exactly as they do today.
How fast is the text?
Seconds after the missed call. The caller hears it ring out, and the text is on their phone before they've finished dialling your competitor — with a reply, book, quote, or callback option built in.
When can I actually go live?
Setup itself takes minutes together, but business texting must be registered with the mobile carriers first, and that approval commonly takes a few days. We never promise “live today” — the checklist shows the real status at every step.
What does the trial really cost?
Nothing for 7 days — and your free days don't start until we catch your first missed call. Until then the trial just waits, free, with no clock running — switching texting on by itself doesn't start it. A card is collected at signup so the trial can roll into the paid plan without interruption — if you cancel during the trial, with one tap in Billing, the card is never charged. If you don't cancel, it's $49 on the trial-end date shown in your portal once your trial has started, then monthly, month-to-month. One exception: the one-time $25 carrier registration fee is charged when your business's texting registration is filed with the carriers — it isn't part of the trial, and it isn't refunded once the registration has been filed.
Can customers opt out?
Yes — anyone can reply STOP at any time and they will never be texted again. Texts only ever go to people who just called you: a reply to their own call, never advertising broadcasts.
Is there a contract?
No. Month-to-month, cancel anytime in Billing. Cancelling stops future renewals — and a trial cancelled in time is never charged for the subscription. (The one exception is the one-time carrier registration fee, which stays charged if your registration was already filed.) Leaving is the reverse of joining: turn off the call forwarding you switched on and you're fully out — your number was never ours, so there's nothing to port back and nothing is held.
Which businesses can use this?
Phone-driven local services — home-service contractors like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and general contractors most of all, plus auto repair, salons, and similar trades. It isn't available for medical or dental practices.
